Album jacket photos of three BEAST members revealed

After releasing their second mini-album titled ‘SHOCK OF THE NEW ERA‘ on the 27th, boy band BEAST revealed the jacket photos of three members that flaunted their new look.
Transforming from the soft charisma of their debut days, BEAST assumed the image of a ’strong man’ in their album jacket photos.
First, lead vocal Yang Yoseob’s transformation was exceptional. Along with his golden hair that was dyed to a dirty blonde color, Yoseob exchanged his adorable aegyo for a more mature and manly image. For the sake of the album jacket photos, he exercised rigorously to build muscle and a strong figure.
Jang Hyun Seung has been receiving much interest for his close-up shot as well. He must have learned a thing or two from Tyra Banks as his piercing stare into the camera has driven the ladies wild. Fans are anticipating how he will be able to replicate his glaring look in the picture on stage while performing.
Similarly, maknae Son Dong Woon’s close-up shot revealed a side of him that took many by surprise–in a good way, of course. In his solo picture, Dong Woon’s facial features became more prominent and defined. In addition, his tall height gives him the appearance of a model.

Dae Guk Nam Ah music video teaser released!

Even though they have yet to debut, Dae Guk Nam Ah (D-NA for short) has been luring in a crowd of fans with their natural charm and musical talent. Many listeners have been taking interest in this five-man group not only because of the eye candy, but the fact that they seem to be taking a more a cappella, ballad-inclined route, at least for their first concept.
The quintet’s debut music video teaser has been released, and it looks like the rumors were right – the debut track seems to be a slow ballad of sorts. Check it out!

Are you looking forward to this group’s debut? They’ll be kicking things off on Mnet M! Countdown on March 4, so stay tuned!

Details of JYPE’s conference with Hottests regarding Jaebeom & 2PM

We have previously reported various fan rumors regarding the content of fan conference that JYP Entertainment held to discuss departure of Jaebeom. As more details are released and previous rumors are confirmed or refuted, this is the second edition to our report on this matter.
The conference lasted four hours, and the content was not released to the press by JYPE as they insisted that they cannot reveal what was said during the conference. This lead to many fan-created rumours about the conference. Oneday Room, a Korean fan page of 2AM and 2PM, released a summary of questions and answers.
I’ve personally translated this transcript into English for our readers:
Q: Underground (fanclub) submitted a new question sheet according to your request for a new one but you still have not answered to it.
A (Representative): We could not give any false answers to the questions as we were planning on announcing Jaebeom’s departure in late February, due to Jaebeom’s request. We wanted to talk truthfully in this conference.
Q: Fans seek to communicate with JYPE. In an event like this where you are to communicate the company’s position, why did you bring 2PM members who are not a part of decision making process within the company?
A (Representative): We believe that a conference like this could take place if the members spoke truthfully. If only the company representatives came, the fans wouldn’t believe us.
Q: We fans who are present right now will consider members who are here as representatives of JYPE and not a part of group 2PM, and consider the words that come out of your mouths as the words of the company. JYPE’s official statement says that the 6 members agreed on what was decided regarding Jaebeom on January 6th. Do any of you disagree with any of the said statements?
A (Members): We agree to the statement.
Q: Assuming the statement is true, why did you torture the fans and bring sympathy to yourselves by mentioning Jaebeom’s name even after January 6th?
A (Members): Jaebeom being a good friend is a different matter from him leaving the group. We don’t think it’s a problem for us to say that we miss him. We think even in future that we can say that we miss him if we miss him, and we don’t think that is a problem at all.
Q: We request that following details on termination of contract between Jaebeom and JYPE be answered and also request that you show us supporting documents as proof. When was the contract officially terminated?
A: February 26th.
Q: After the termination, what legal rights does JYPE hold regarding Jaebeom and how long do you hold those rights for?
A: We do not hold any legal rights.
Q: When does Jaebeom get paid indemnity and his share of profit?
A: There is no indemnity. His share of profit up to December was paid in full during January.
Q: Promise that there aren’t any clauses that limit him from returning to the entertainment industry in future.
A: There are no such clauses.
Q: We request JYPE be responsible this situation as they were not looking after their entertainer Jaebeom with utmost care. JYPE released statement filled with unclear words and thus made rumours surrounding Jaebeom and 2PM spread. Please tell us what you plan on doing about the rumours and what you plan on doing about damage done to Jaebeom, his family and the rest of 2PM.
A (Representative): JYPE is not responsible for personal matters of its entertainers and thus we believe that Jaebeom should be responsible for everything that he has caused. In a logical sense, Jaebeom is the wrongdoer and the company and the 6 members are the victims.
Q: Has JYPE done anything to protect Jaebeom from related news articles and TV programs since last September 5th? Requesting news articles and comments to be deleted aren’t hard, so why did you just watch the fire spread?
A (Representative): We have never requested news articles and comments to be deleted before the September incident. But we had tried our best. After the September incident, we have tried to delete comments and such, but the number of news articles regarding the incident was so large that we could not handle it all. Plus, the media is uncontrollable by us. I hope you understand our situation.
Q: According to JYPE’s statement, JYPE made final decision on Jaebeom on January 6th, but delayed announcing this fact for a month and 20 days, continuously using Jaebeom for marketing throughout the period. Even if the company did not directly and intentionally use Jaebeom for marketing, why did you just watch media sources use Jaebeom’s name?
A (Representative): It is true that final decision was made on January 6th. However, we agreed with Jaebeom to announce this matter in late February so we could not request anything to the media. Again, the media cannot be controlled by JYPE.
Q: Isn’t JYPE responsible for announcing the reason of Jaebeom’s termination as, of all things, “serious personal wrongdoing”?
A (Representative): We had reasons for that. We did not want the 6 members to be traitors. The 6 is more important than the one. We also could not lie in a statement written to be viewed by the entire nation. In practical sense, the 6 members are the victims and if we did not reveal the reason truthfully, then it would have created more rumors. That is why we revealed the reason truthfully, as “serious personal wrongdoing.”
Q: We are told that only the members and few within the company know what wrong Jaebeom has done. If it is indeed a serious matter then we as fans do not want it to be released to the public either. However, since only few within the company and the members know of the incident, can we assume that if the details do slip out into the public then it had been released by JYPE?
A: We hope that the details do not get released to the public; however, there are people who are not within the company that are part of the incident. There are possibilities of them releasing the matters so we cannot take any responsibilities.
Q: Does Jaebeom know that there is a conference happening at the moment? Does he know that JYPE’s official statement says that the reason for his termination is due to personal wrongdoings?
A (Nichkhun): We have texted each other up until recently and he knows that the conference is taking place. He even wanted to send a video message.
(Representative): He is aware of the statement as well.
Q: Is 2PM planning on selecting in a new member or electing a new leader?
A (Representative & Members): No.
Q: Is there no possibility of Jaebeom returning? What if he was to return as a member of a different management company?
A (Representative & Members): There is no possibility of him returning as a part of 2PM.
(Chansung): If Jaebeom was to return despite all that has happened, I’m all for him. However, I’m not positive about his return to 2PM.
Q: Couldn’t JYPE and the members ignore the issues? If the members did not agree to termination of Jaebeom, would the situation have come to this?
A (Members): It was something that could not be ignored.
(Representative): It was a matter that they could not disagree on, thus we believed that they would all agree. Even if they didn’t, the result would have been the same.
Q: The result would have been the same even if the MySpace incident did not happen?
A (Members): Yes.
Q: Do members take care of their Cyworld themselves? Are messages that were on the members’ Cyworld after September 8th really written by the members themselves?
A (Wooyoung): Yes. I felt anxious so I said I’m anxious.
(Chansung): Yes. I wrote “confused” about a personal matter. It was not related to this situation.
(Representative): We were asked why we do not manage our entertainers in previous conferences. Our contract does not limit entertainers’ personal lives. It is something that the entertainers themselves should take care of.
Q: How do the members feel about the boycott?
A (Junho): We thought that Jaebeom would return so we did not care. We merely thought of it as a problem that would get solved when he came back. But I would be lying if I said we didn’t feel hurt by it. If fans continue to boycott us after this, I think I’ll feel that they just don’t want to see us anymore. However, we will continue trying our best in singing and performing.
Q: Do you realize that “serious personal wrong doing” part you wrote on the statement can be considered defamation if it was revealed to be not true?
A (Representative): We wrote what is true.
Q: What do you plan on doing about Jaebeom’s part when performing the first and second single from now on? Also, can he receive additional profits earned by those albums in future?
A (Representative): Jaebeom’s part in performances is something we have to discuss among ourselves. Additional profit would be a matter that copyrights association will deal with, not JYPE.
Q: Would 2PM fan club continue using the title “HOTTEST”?
A (Representative): Yes. Are the 6 members not a part of 2PM? No. The 6 members are still 2PM, so we will continue to use the title HOTTEST.
Q: Members made final decision on Jaebeom on January 6th. The members were currently away on vacation and were spotted with smiles on.
A (Wooyoung): It was our first vacation.
(Taecyeon): We are celebrities. We cannot frown in public.
(Chansung): I cannot make sad faces when meeting up with relatives over holidays. What do you want? Do you want us to cause a scene during live performances, asking for Jaebeom to come back?
Q: Do you know of rumors that are spreading on the Internet? Aren’t you going to protect Jaebeom?
A (Wooyoung): We are not abandoning him, we are protecting him. I thought that if the details were released in future, I might regret my decisions.
(Chansung): Please do not question our friendship.
(Junho): After being told about what he had done, I honestly hated Jaebeom. We tried our best for his return, but right now, I think that staying silent is the best I can do for him.
(Taecyeon): Rumors will go away.
Q: JYPE revealed that contract with Jaebeom was terminated due to personal problems. Why was he not forced to pay any indemnity although he was the one responsible?
A (Representative): Other members of 2PM are promoting various products so indemnity might occur regarding that, but Jaebeom currently is not promoting any products. Thus he does not have to pay any indemnity to advertisers and although he is responsible for the termination, we decided not to charge him for anything.
Stay tuned as we continue bringing you coverage of this matter.

[NEWS] Fans trash JYPE building, activities planned for following days

As soon as the notice was confirmed on the 25th, fans rushed to the JYPE building and trashed it by throwing mayo, ketchup, and eggs. On the 26th, fans littered the building with ripped up pictures and CD's of the 2PM members and have even put bundles of chrysanthemum flowers at the entrance. (TN: Chrysanthemums and other white flowers signify death in Korea.)

The fans that agreed to speak with journalists explained the signifiance of the chrysanthemums, stating, "It means that without Jaebum, 2PM fans are dead.

"Many have since withdrawn from the official fan cafe of 2PM and have stated, "Should 2PM continue to promote themselves with 6 members, we will no longer be a 2PM fan. We will become Jaebum's personal fans or 2PM anti fans."

On the day of the actual conference, the 27th, the fans are expected to take drastic measures.

Fans will leave white chrysanthemums at the entrance, explaining, "At the time, we were planning to put red roses in an effort to encourage a positive result to the conference. However, with the recent notification of Jaebum's complete withdrawal, we have changed the flowers to white chrysanthemums."

There is also a private protest set for the 28th. Fans have stated, "We do not have enough time to request permission for a full out protest because the notification was put up too suddenly. We will be holding a private protest instead."

May be taken out with full credits. You are not allowed add yourself to the credits nor edit the credits.

Along with the news getting out that JaeBum will no longer join 2PM and that his contract came to a close, rumors, protests, and boycotts are the current issues. Rumors such as that JaeBum left because of drug use or impregnating a girl are the discussion between netizens. TaecYeon even deleted his homepage and JunSu closed it down along with ChanSung lastly leaving the words, “Chaos…” Fans are stopping by the JYP building to leave white flowers showing that without JaeBum,2PM should be might as well “dead.”
JYP Entertainment stated that JaeBum’s leave was due to his personal reasons. Netizens started to speculate the different reasons that JaeBum might have stated. Matters such as drug use, impregnating a girl, and issues that tied back to Wonder Girls SunMi’s leave as well. For the rumors regarding SunMi and JaeBum, JYP quickly announced that there is no relations between JaeBum and SunMi, which in opposite gathered more interest on the issue. However, the speculations doesn’t end there, since there were new rumors that JYP Entertainment started the rumors.
Another issue was the assumption that JYP is making up lies to cover up the JaeBum issues without any more damage. When JYP Entertainment had announced the statement on JaeBum’s leave, they had also mentioned that 2PM had agreed to this as well. HOTTEST are currently arguing that this would have been impossible because the love 2PM members express towards JaeBum is too great. They backed up their reasons by stating all the instances they mentioned JaeBum and reflecting back too the trainee days.
Netizens are also referring to this issue as a conspiracy in general and are currently deciding whether to take this matter to court. Many are confessing that they are tired of JYP for “lying” and being nice about the JaeBum issue when clearly was decided that they were going to let go of him in the end. They are also stating that informing the public with the truth should be first, therefore asking JYP to reveal the “private” issue that was bad enough to make JaeBum leave.
In addition, it looks like the boycotts and protest will only be getting worse from here. Fans are saying, “Reveal the reason behind JaeBum’s leave,” “Stop blaming it on JaeBum and give us your position that we will be satisfied with,” and “Until when are you going to have these fake rumors that doesn’t even make sense circulate around?” Some fans turned in white flowers, which are used in funerals to show that 2PM should be might as well dead if there was no JaeBum. Other fans are calling the other 2PM members “traitors” and are showing dislike towards them for agreeing to take JaeBum out of the group.
Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment will be holding a fan meeting with 100 fan representatives on the 27th.

Although the boys of 2AM took a surprise win on M! Countdown yesterday, the girls took the win with 20,549 points on the February 26th episode of Music Bank with their title track Oh! for their 4th win since their comeback. SNSD’s competitors were the same as before but they prevailed against CNBLUE and 2AM.

Kara performs “Lupin” and “Umbrella” on Music Bank!

After performing their first comeback stage on yesterday’s M! Countdown, Kara is back with Lupin and Umbrella on today’s Music Bank! Just like Kara’s ‘butt dance‘ from Mister, their ‘emergency exit dance‘ from Lupin is starting to become addictive as well, don’t you guys agree?
Check out their performances below!

Umbrella sounded somewhat underwhelming but things changed when Kara switched to performing Lupin! Music Bank gave Kara the opportunity of performing in two settings so you will be seeing them transitioning between white and blue outfits (which I presumed is pre-recorded). The crowd was electric with their chants and you will feel really pumped watching their comeback stage.

Jaebeom controversy

Jaebum was permanently withdrawn from his contract with JYP Entertainment (JYPE) and thusly, will not return to 2PM.
On February 25th, JYPE announced on its official website that Jaebum is permanently withdrawing from 2PM for a secretively vague reason. Already, there has been a backlash from Hottests and non-fans over JYPE’s fishy wording, and now all Kpop followers are scratching their heads over what will happen next for the 2PM members. This situation could easily turn bad for the remaining six members.
(Because POPSEOUL wants to give you the most complete information, this is a fairly lengthy and thorough post about this situation on the official notice and the controversy and backlash that has come from it.)

The Announcement
The official notice claimed that though they were planning a comeback for Jaebum, after he confession to committing a “big mistake,” JYPE and the other members of 2PM had no choice but to let him go.
Here is a translation of the full official posting on JYP Entertainment’s website (
“Hello, this is JYP Entertainment
In September of last year, it was revealed that 2PM member Park Jaebum returned to the Seattle in the United States out of embarrassment over criticism received from internet postings he wrote as a trainee.
Last September, the news exploded was that the contents of the posting were not to the liking of anyone. But because the words were written in a personal space during the hard days of training, JYPE sympathized with Park Jaebum, as he wanted to take some time off for self-discipline. While that is true, it was not believed that he would permanently end all activities or forever leave 2PM.
At that time, the head office held Park Jaebum back from withdrawing, stopped 2PM activities as a seven-member group, and also was able to try to reason with him. However, although it was taken into consideration that Park Jaebum’s postings were mistranslated by netizens, with some parts exaggerated, it was clear that a good number of people would be hurt by his words. And, as in any situation such as that one, to protect Park Jaebum and  with the thought that because of Park Jaebum, the public image of 2PM as a seven-member group could forever be tarnished, the head office came to agree with his [Park Jaebum's] decision.
When an entertainer commits a publicly disappointing mistake, if the person himself does not admit that he was wrong or the representatives does not protect the entertainer, all the more, the public opinion of that entertainer would change for the worse, so it’s a better thought to withdraw from the team and take time away for self-discipline.
Fortunately, after Park Jaebum’s withdrawal, while a sympathetic public opinion for him was running high,  many people wanted to give him another chance, showing their benevolent hearts.
In the event that the sympathetic public opinion would under influence once again turn bad, for that time, though it was never released to the public, immediately after Park Jaebum returned to Seattle, the head office began searching for creditable vocal, dance, and acrobatic instructors in Seattle. During that time, the company’s producer Park Jin-young [JYP] went to Seattle on September 29th of last year, in order to personally seek out instructors, conducting mock lessons to thorough create a perfect training program.
All advertisements, performances, events, etc. that are currently in progress for 2PM, and also the contract agreements with the aforementioned activities were not limited to six members. For the time of Park Jaebum’s comeback, the  number of people could be adjusted to seven people. Such articles could be inserted [into the contracts], for the preparation of his comeback.
Then, in November of last year, JYPE proposed to Jaebum a comeback with the album that is to be released this coming April. Park Jaebum agreed, and, immediately following the Lunar New Year, was to return in the third week of February and have a press conference. It was planned that in March, activities as a seven-member group would begin.
Once again receiving a friendly public opinion after his departure, the rise of power in the team after his return, and above all the united support of the fans, JYPE and all seven members were full of expectations.
However, because it seemed like the high public opinion could turn bad after revealing Park Jaebum’s comeback too quickly, even though the fans strongly voiced their criticisms, the plan was not to be revealed until the very end.
However, last year December 22nd, Park Jaebum hastily called JYPE Representative Jung Wook and personally confessed that he had committed a big mistake in private.
Last year, in the summer, during ‘Again & Again’ activities, the mistake he committed swelled into a larger problem.
The exact details cannot be revealed as it is a personal and private matter of Park Jaebum, but this new problem is much worse than the reason for his departure in September of last year [MySpace controversy]. Furthermore, socially, it can bring about a much more serious problem. We wanted to immediately consult the other six members with the details of this problem, but after a long time of hearing the news of Park Jaebum’s return, they were restlessly and happily in the middle of tying up year-end activities. Because of that, at that time we could not convey the message to them. Therefore, after the end of all year-end activities, on January 3rd of this year, the details [of the problem] were told to them, and three days later, on January 6th, after much distress, the six utterly shocked members, and moreover all of the staff, expressed the opinion that it would be difficult to continue to do activities with Park Jaebum.
In the judgement that Park Jaebum is no longer suitable to be an entertainer under our company, JYPE has decide to end our exclusive contract with him.
We wanted to immediately inform everyone of this decision, but we hope you will understand that we are inevitably releasing the information now in Park Jaebum’s individual and personal interest.
All the above details, as the valued singer 2PM with their care for the people’s concerns and the high press and public interest concentrated on this case, have been revealed in actuality without even the smallest lie.
The facts were given in detail on the front door because it was determined that false reasons and mistrust and suspicion from the fans and public could easily grow from a snowball effect.
To all 2PM fans, and especially to the many who were awaiting Park Jaebum’s return, we sincerely regret having to deliver such unfortunate news.
In order to introduce a better appearance, JYPE and 2PM will prepare all the more harder.
Thank you.”
The Controversy: Fans Accuse JYPE of Lying
Before the official posting, fans leaked news that “there was more to the controversy than the MySpace posting,” perhaps implying this very special, secret reason. Regardless, fans are now outraged at the sudden withdrawal and believe that the notice is “full of lies.” Here are some points Hottests have brought up.
1. On December 31st, JYPE put up a post calling Jaebum the “leader” of 2PM, though this big mistake was revealed to the company on December 22nd.
2. The notice says the members agreed to drop Jaebum on January 6th. At this time, many members were reported to not be in Seoul: Taecyeon was in Boston, and Junho, Junsu, and Wooyoung were in their hometowns. A face-to-face meeting would not be possible to make this decision.
3. Through various variety talk shows in the past few days, the members have been talking about Jaebum, referring to him as though he would return to the team. It seems as though the members were unaware that Jaebum would be gone for good.
4. It’s hard to believe that Jaebum could have done something without the other members knowledge during the “Again & Again” promotions. Not only were the members living together, but they literally had no personal time due to schedules.
5. JYPE may have kicked out Jaebum, not due to his complaints about Korea, but because of his complaints with the unfair contract. Though it is shorter than other entertainment companies, the contract is similar to other Korean entertainers contracts (SM Entertainment: Super Junior, Girls Generation, DBSK), so Jaebum vented about the unfair contract on MySpace as a trainee.
The Backlash: What’s Happening Now.

Already, many fans are abandoning 2PM and boycotting JYPE in support of Jaebum, but other Hottests are holding through in order to discover the full story.
It is expected that more fans will bail the Jaebum-less 2PM ship within the next few days. Already, hundreds of fans have appeared in front of the JYPE building to protest the decision, saying “Give back our leader,” and “Without Jaebum, 2PM is only 1:59.”
2PM members are already closing areas of their Cyworld mini-homepages so that fans may not post messages to them.
For the fans, JYPE still has a lot of explaining to do. We’ll have to wait and see how  the face-to-face February 27th meeting will go.

70 fans outside JYPE building in protest

This recent Jaebeom controversy seems to be keeping everyone on their toes, Hottest or not!
Within less than 24 hours, 2PM has lost thousands of fans, JYPE has been mobbed with angry Hottests, and 2PM members are even being blamed for Jaebeom’s withdrawal.
It has just been reported that seventy Hottests are protesting in front of the JYPE building. However, rather than raiding the building, these fans have quietly been gathered around the building entrance, watching JYPE’s moves.

One fan stated, “We are not standing here to ask JYP for his position. I just came here because I felt like I had to do something after hearing the news.”

On the 25th, 100 Hottests have been gathered around the JYPE building after hearing the news of the official termination of Jaebeom’s contract. Today, the 26th, fans have started to gather around the premises early in the morning, bringing the count to 70 fans as of now.

One particular fan had brought a chrysanthemum with her and explained, “I prepared this chrysanthemum to symbolize that 2PM fans died along with Jaebeom’s withdrawal.”

Aside from the mobbed JYPE building, netizens have been criticizing certain 2PM members, and as of now, Wooyoung and Taecyeon seem to be the main targets. It was reported earlier that Taecyeon had shut down his minihompy, which may have been a smart choice.

Although there are some positive comments left for the other 2PM members, there seem to be more netizens trying to bring down the 6-member 2PM. One of the comments left by netizens stated, “Ok Taecyeon, are you happy now?” and others demanded both Wooyoung and Taecyeon to step down from their variety shows and MC positions. These two are most likely being attacked by netizens because they are the most active members from 2PM.

“A character that we haven’t seen before, now on We Got Married.”

That’s how Jung Yoon Jung, the PD of We Got Married described the new Jung Yonghwa – Seohyun couple.

CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa and SNSD gal Seohyun’s first episode will be broadcast on the 27th. At 20 years old and 18 years old, the two make the youngest couple in We Got Married history.

PD Jung said, “Although they are a young couple, when they met, I saw a man and a woman. The two of them really bring a character that really hasn’t been seen in ‘We Got Married’ before.”

Regarding Seohyun, Jung said, “Lots of people were curious as to what Seohyun’s image would be. Because Seohyun is at the young age of 18, she can show the audience a fresh image that wasn’t there before.”

PD Jung expressed his opinion on Yonghwa, saying, “He’s a cool and charming guy. As expected, although he is young, he plays the role of oppa to Seohyun and plays it well.”

PD Jung wants to make this couple successful going into the future. “The two of them are the ones making the relationship. Our job will be to create missions that aren’t too extravagant as to not irk the viewers.“

Super Junior’s Eunhyuk diagnosed with swine flu

It’s been a while we’ve last heard from this fellow. His first name is swine. Last name is flu.

SM Entertainment has revealed that Super Junior’s Eunhyuk has been diagnosed with swine flu.

On the night of February 25th, Eunhyuk had symptoms of a cold so he went to the hospital to get a check up. The results weren’t good as he was confirmed with swine flu the following day and is currently resting at home.

All of Eunhyuk’s activities will be canceled, including KBS FM Kiss The Radio. He will also not be able to attend SNSD’s encore concert this weekend so fellow Super Junior members, Leeteuk and Heechul will fill in instead.

Best of luck to Eunhyuk and let’s hope he has a speedy recovery!

Full letter from JYP Entertainment regarding Jaebeom

As previously reported, Park Jaebeom is now confirmed to have permanently left 2PM. We released a small excerpt from the full message earlier, and now have an uncut translation of the entire letter for our readers.

In the past few hours, the kpop world has simply exploded with not only grief but confusion due to many theories and news reports that point in all directions. allkpop works around the clock to provide you with the fastest news, but we also value quality and accuracy as well, and hope this full statement will help our readers understand the convoluted matter at hand.

We at allkpop have translated the whole letter, which was posted on JYP Entertainment’s official website, into English here:

Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.

Last September, 2PM’s member Park Jaebeom announced his withdrawal from the group and returned to Seattle after a message he wrote on the internet during his trainee days caused backlash. We will now reveal what course of action will be taken.

Although the message that became an issue last September upset many people, it was written during Jaebeom’s tough trainee days on his personal page. At the time, the company agreed with Jaebeom when he asked to take some time for self-reflection. We did not think that this meant that he would stop all activities in the entertainment industry or that he would leave 2PM.

The company had the option of forcing Park Jaebeom to stay and continue promoting with a 7 member 2PM. However, although netizens exaggerated Jaebeom’s words through mistranslations, his words still had the potential to hurt many people. Because of this, we did not want to endorse Jaebeom and force him to continue promotions because it might have damaged his image permanently in the public eye, and so we agreed with his decision to return to the States.

When a celebrity makes a mistake and does not apologize for his / her mistake or if the company endorses that celebrity, the public view of that celebrity becomes more negative and it was in the company’s thoughts that letting Jaebeom withdraw from the group for self-discipline would be good.

Thankfully, after Park Jaebeom left the country, an outpour of support gave him another chance.

After Jaebeom’s leave, we did not release any additional information because we did not want the public to be influenced by malicious sources. Since Park Jaebeom’s return to Seattle, the company has searched for vocal, dance, and acrobatics teachers, and the company producer JYP went personally to Seattle to talk to these teachers and formulate a program.

All recent CF’s, performances, promotions and contracts that have involved 2PM have been made with the mindset that the group would eventually have all 7 members present after Park Jaebeom’s return and so we waited for his comeback.

In November, 2009, the company proposed that Park Jaebeom make his comeback through an album that would have been released this year in April, and Park Jaebeom had agreed to these plans. The plans called for Jaebeom’s return to Korea on the third week of February and a press conference would have been held before promotions as a 7 member 2PM began.

Because of the support he received from the public after his withdrawal from 2PM, Park Jaebeom’s return would have improved 2PM’s efforts and most importantly we would have been able to receive the complete support of the fans once again. The company and the group had high hopes.

However, if the news of Jaebeom’s comeback were revealed too quickly, we felt that the public would once again be negative. Although the fans criticized the lack of information from us, we did not reveal any plans for the comeback.

On December 22nd, 2009, Jaebeom confessed to Jung Wook, a representative, that he had done something wrong during the Again and Again promotions. Apparently, it was far more serious than his MySpace controversy.

The six other members were not notified then as they were busy with year-end activities. On January 3rd, 2010, we all sat down for a discussion and came to an agreement 3 days later that it was no longer possible for Park Jaebeom to continue activities along with 2PM.

We thus decided to terminate our exclusive contract with Jaebeom.

Although we wanted to release this information as soon as possible, Park Jaebeom’s personal situation prevented us from revealing this information until now and we hope you understand.

We would like to emphasize that all the information above is true in its entirety.

We are revealing these details through this message now because if we had lied and gave false information, we would have lost any trust that we held with the fans.

To 2PM and all the people who waited for Park Jaebeom’s return, we apologize deeply and are sorry to have to reveal this sad news to everyone.

The company and the remaining 6 members will prepare even harder and greet you with a better image.

Thank you.

The aftermath of Jaebeom’s contract termination

Following JYP Entertainment’s official statement on the 25th that 2PM’s Jaebeom would, in fact, not be returning his rightful position as the leader of the 7-member group, an ominous cloud was cast over the nation.

In September 2009, Jaebeom stepped down from his position as 2PM’s leader after his “offensive” MySpace comments about Korea were publicized. Due to the sensitive issue of Jaebeom’s departure, all 2PM activities were suspended temporarily. After the brief hiatus, 2PM returned to the music scene with their first full-length album, without their leader. Since then, the beastly idols reaped various year-end music awards–including “Song of the Year” for Again and Again–and enjoyed skyrocketing growth in new endorsement deals.

The small hope, which Hottests have been desperately clinging onto, that Jaebeom would one day unite with 2PM once again, vanished as quickly as his departure to Seattle. Needless to say, Korean and international fans from all over the world have not taken the recent news lightly. In fact, the overall reaction to Jaebeom’s contract termination are already taking a devastating toll on JYP Entertainment.

After the company’s announcement on their official website, 2PM’s fancafes and fansites have been in complete disarray. In just five hours, 2PM’s official fan cafe on Daum lost 46,000 members (and counting) from the original 329,000, a hefty 14% chunk of the community.

Taecyeon shut down his Cyworld while Junsu closed his photo and comment sections off from the public.

It has been reported that there are even bodyguards stationed at the JYP building in Cheongdam at the moment. Perhaps it is to ensure the safety of 2PM and the staff members, but to my recollection, the managers themselves are the ones to watch out for.

Despite JYP Entertainment’s lengthy letter posted online, Hottests speculate that they are lying and are currently in the process of collecting evidence to thwart what they allege to be false statements.

BEAST to release 2nd mini album in March!

BEAST to release 2nd mini album in March!

this is what u get what u highlight the album image... so clever!! ((:

Earlier last week, photos from BEAST’s latest MV set were leaked, implying a possible comeback. It seems as though the netizens’ speculations were true because news of the group releasing a new mini album has finally been released!

Their 2nd mini album titled Shock of the New Era is set to be released on March 2. Along with their new album, the group plans on bringing a whole new genre to the kpop scene. The name of the genre is “rocktonic” and this type of music will be personified in their title track Shock. The song will consist of powerful heavy metal-esque beats and rhythms that will ignite a shock on the listeners.

So who else is excited for this? The beastly group will go head to head with likes of SNSD, Kara, T-ara and F.cuz in March, so you can bet there will be a heated competition going on for #1! While we sit back and wait for more news about BEAST’s comeback, here’s the tracklist for their latest mini album.

01. Just Before Shock
02. Shock
03. Special
04. 내 여자친구를 부탁해 (Say No)

Jaebeom’s subliminal message to 2PM?

While 6-member 2PM performed at the MBC Star Dance Battle alongside other Korean artists on the 14th, Jaebeom has been battling it out on the dance floor long before the Lunar New Year celebration. Fans have been able to follow his activities through a handful of videos circulating on YouTube that captured him b-boying with his dance crew Art of Movement in various competitions. They even came out on top to win first place in one of them.

At University of Washington, Jaebeom participated in a recent gathering of “Wild ‘N Out,” held by the Hip Hop Student Association (HHSA). Unlike the other videos we have seen of him online, Jaebeom battled by himself, allowing his individual talent to be showcased. As expected, he breezed past the first two rounds, wowing the audience with his powerful yet fluid dancing. Although he may not have initially had the crowd’s support, Jaebeom eventually gained it, as demonstrated by the progressively loud cheering throughout the video.

Additionally, Jaebeom spiced things up with a bit of Chris Brown’s signature body wave on the floor, a choreography from the latter’s song Take You Down. Coincidentally, 2PM used the same song and dance during their performance on MBC Star Dance Battle. His front flip (seen @5:35) has also been used as part of the choreography for 2PM’s 10 out of 10. Doesn’t it just bring back fond memories?

Whether Jaebeom really intended to reach out to 2PM or not, the very possibility of it is getting me all giddy. Jaebeom needs to come back soon so 2PM (and not 1:59PM) can kick butt at next year’s MBC Star Dance Battle. After all, no one stands a chance in a dance battle when 7 beastly idols come to tear up the stage.

Yonghwa & Seohyun stay faithful with couple rings

We Got Married may just be a show, but it looks like CNBLUE’s Yonghwa and SNSD’s Seohyun are taking their “love” outside of filming. A few observant netizens recently pointed out that both idols have been seen with their couple rings outside of WGM filming, specifically on a number of music shows.
On last week’s episode of Music Bank, which aired on February 12, both idols were clearly captured with their couple rings on their fingers:

On last night’s episode of Mnet M! Countdown, Yonghwa’s ring was clearly captured again:

Rumor has it that this on-air appearance of couple rings may be a couple mission produced by We Got Married’s PD; after all, both idols do seem to be freely wearing their bands for the camera to easily capture.
Does this reveal anything important about their relationship? Probably not. Do some netizens have too much time on their hands? Apparently. But is it cute enough to get fans interested in what’s to come? Yes! Thanks to sachiko erin for the tip, and stay tuned for the broadcast of the first episode.

BEAST’s Yoseob stole U-Kiss’ Dongho’s cute image?

Apparently so! During the filming session of an upcoming episode of KBS’s Star Golden Bell, U-KissDongho confessed that he saw Yoseob of BEAST as a rival for cuteness.
When BEAST debuted, I knew their average age was around 20,” the fifteen-year-old U-Kiss maknae confessed during the show. “I never imagined that someone would try to take the cute image away from me. … However, 22-year-old Yoseob hyung has tried to take over my place as the cute one!” Dongho’s frustration sparked laughter from the rest of the cast.

Is BEAST filming for a new MV?

Is BEAST filming for a new MV?

The boys of BEAST debuted back in October with a pretty successful run of promotions from Bad Girl to Mystery. But it looks like they might be coming back with yet another song…
The B2uties (BEAST’s fan club) have been digging around and it seems they’ve stumbled upon something:

As you can see in the photo they’re obviously filming for something… but what exactly for? Your guess is as good as mine but many are speculating that it’s for a new music video. I like YoSeob’s silver hair and JunHyung’s mohawk… interesting hairstyles. Anyways, whenever we get the scoop on what this really is for, we’ll make sure to let you know. Thanks to MiHANA for the tip.

[News] G-Dragon “I like girls who have both looks and personalities like cats”
“The lyrics and melodies of the songs I’ve written are all my own experiences. Even just indirect experiences through talking to others or watching movies and stuff. When I’m in love I can only think of happy lyrics, while when I’ve just broken up only sad lyrics come to mind. Songs like ‘She’s Gone’ are a collection of the emotions I felt while watching particular movies.”

The songs G-Dragon (Real name: Kwon Jiyong, 23) writes are all his own experiences. Anyone who’s sharp would’ve picked up his true feelings while listening to his songs.

“I think I have to write honestly so that the person listening can feel what I feel. So they can feel the pain for themselves and be moved. I don’t think it’s possible for someone to be touched by a piece of music that’s been made up from nothing.”

He has, of course, been in love. But the people around him just called it ‘cute puppy love’.

“I thought I was in love but my closest friends still tell me ‘You’ve never been in real love’. Maybe because I’m the type of person who suddenly gets really crazy about something and equally suddenly gets over it. Though I do date for a while...”

He’s also the type of person who gives everything he has to the woman he loves. Even to the point where it sometimes causes inconvenience to his work. He shows his natural unmade self, wanting to be seen just as Kwon Jiyong, not a celebrity; for this reason he is very open even in crowds.

“It’s childish, but I did all that stuff like letting out balloons from the trunk, and borrowing cafés for the day to do mini concerts. (laughs) I didn’t want my girlfriend to think of me as a celebrity so I would go to amusement parks with her with my face covered, and did everything she wanted to do. People say I’m an idiot for not caring about causing scandals. Even President Yang tells me that I have to be careful to meet the right girl.”

His ideal type is a girl who’s ‘like a cat’.

“I like girls who look have both looks and personalities like cats. I’m attracted to girls who run away when I try to catch them, but approach me and throw themselves in my arms when I stop trying. Someone I can lean on. Someone who can control me from above? I like girls who are fierce and strong. At least when I’m in love, I want to be able to have someone to lean on and rest with.”

After experiencing the sorrow of separating a few times, his thoughts on love have changed.

”I can never break up with someone first. I just can’t say it. If I start a new love in the future, I’m not going to give my all right from the beginning. I want to love slowly now.”

SNSD’s Seohyun hates the lyrics to Oh!?

For those of us who know SNSD’s / Girls’ Generation’s maknae Seohyun, it doesn’t come as much of surprise that she doesn’t like the lyrics to the groups new title track Oh! With her well publicized adversity to boys, all of those love confessions written into the lyrics of Oh! surely must have caused her some discomfort.
On a recent recording of the popular new talk show Strong Heart, Seohyun opened up and confessed, “The part where the lyrics go ‘Oppa I love you’ was really difficult for me to record. … No matter how much I practiced, when it came time to record, I couldn’t sing it!”
After letting out a sigh Seohyun said, “The lyrics were just so embarrassing that I couldn’t do it at all.
After revealing all this, of course MC Kang Ho Dong had to ask Seohyun to sing Oh! for him. Seohyun’s response?
She let out another sigh, causing everyone in the studio to laugh at the cute and innocent maknae. In response, member Sooyoung said, “On the other hand, I was told to be as embarrassing as possible!
The members all had a good time recording the show. Each of them showed off a cute expression and attempted to imitate each other.
The show will be broadcast on February 16th.

SHINee’s Key names fruits in English

As many fans know, SHINee recently took a trip to Hong Kong to celebrate Lunar New Year’s overseas. On February 13, the boys visited Tuen Mun Town Plaza for a New Year’s Countdown event, playing a few games with fans and also performing Replay, Ring Ding Dong & JoJo.
Much to many fans’ delight, Key played a balloon game in which he had to name as many fruits off the top of his head… in English.

On top of Key’s English quiz, SHINee also learned a bit of Cantonese; Onew even got tested on various Chinese phrases during the balloon game:

Getting to see Korean celebrities attempt to speak other languages, especially English, is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the kpop fandom. I didn’t have a favorite SHINee member before I watched these clips, but Key definitely won me over with his adorable English!

[News] Netizens reaction on newly wed couple YongHwa & SeoHyun

Amidst news that So Nyeo Shi Dae SeoHyun and C.N Blue Jung YongHwa have been confirmed as a new couple on MBC We Got Married 2, many netizens also raised their voices about it.
Some netizens linked it to incidents of C.N Blue’s recent plagiarism accusations and manager’s violent behaviour to fans, “Too much noise and news about Jung YongHwa”, “He should just have stopped at drama” etc.
And about SeoHyun’s appearance on the show, “She just recently graduated from high school, isn’t it wrong for a teenager to be involved such a program on marriage?”, “Even though SeoHyun is good, but I don’t think she is cut out for variety shows” etc.

Also previously on a variety show, SeoHyun revealed that “Sweet potatoes are better than men” showing no interests in men. With that many netizens’ stand is, “I object to this marriage”, “Rather, get a sweet potato on the show” etc.
There also netizens who are worried that SeoHyun’s appearance on the show may also hurt her image as even before the show is aired, there is so much negativity against this new couple.

Star King guest tries to kiss Minho & Eunhyuk

On today’s episode of Star King, one of the female guests was asked to re-enact a scene where she asks her male partner if he knows the difference between a regular kiss and a real kiss. After asking this the female guest would then proceed to show the male partner the difference.
First up was SHINee’s Minho who seemed to be afraid… Every time the girl tried to kiss her, he would hesitate and back away. Minho went to MC Kang Ho Dong and said that he didn’t know she would really try to kiss him. Kang Ho Dong asked Minho, “Were you scared?” and he said, “Yes.”
Super Junior’s Eunhyuk was up next and he was less hesitant as he received the kisses from the female guest which caused much laughter from everyone. Thanks to StarxChocox for the tip and check out the segment below.
